All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh), an institute of National Importance with autonomous functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), was conceived under Phase V of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY)’ with the objective of correcting imbalances in the availability of affordable/reliable tertiary level healthcare in the country.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of AIIMS, Bilaspur on October 03, 2017. Subsequently on January 21, 2019, Hon’ble Union Health Minister Shri J P Nadda and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Jai Ram Thakur performed the Bhoomi Pujan. The project is proposed to be developed in 3 phases over an area of 247 acres. Phase I of the project with 750 beds, and 41 speciality and super speciality departments has been completed in a record time of 3 yrs. The institute will provide advanced tertiary care facilities like 64 ICU beds, 20 modular Operation Theatres, CT, MRI, digital radiography, Cath lab and dialysis facilities in its Phase-I.
